Anthony Summers talks about the many aspects of the life of Norma Jean, also known as Marilyn Monroe. Summers, throughout the book, talks about her mental illness, childhood trauma, and journey to her success. The way he brakes down her life is one of the best I have seen in a long time .
Here are 2 Golden Nuggets that I found in the book. That were crucial to her success
1. Press “The journalist Liked her, and the Press Club gave her a special Award. None of this had anything to do with movies, but Marilyn understood early on the importance of a good press.” Good press is something every upcoming talent in every industry needs. What I found interesting was the way she had a hold of the press. She made sure to be the focus of the press and therefore secured her fame.
2. Life-Long Learner Summers mentions in the book how she took acting classes when she was already a superstar as an actor—showing how humble she was despite already being well known and looking for a way to better her craft. Besides taking acting classes to better herself, she also read books.
Towards the end of her life, it just became a mystery and revealed many conspiracy theories that up to today are very much alive today.
