Key Notes:
Three Questions to Jeff Bezos Hiring Process
“During our hiring meetings, we ask people to consider three questions before making that decision: Will you admire this person?”
Take a moment to think about this question. There is a reason why Amazon is one most effective operating companies.
“ Will this person raise the average level of effectiveness of the group they’re entering?”
Set the bar higher and higher after each hire.
“Along what dimension might this person be a superstar?”. Make sure the person you are hiring is entering the correct job or branch. You don’t want to hire someone who may have more potential in a different business area.
“To invent, you have to experiment, and if you know in advance that it’s going to work, it’s not an experiment.”
Failing is not something that comes easily to us as humans. We tend to resist it and try to avoid it whenever possible. However, sometimes it’s necessary to fail a few times before we can achieve success. If we lack curiosity or determination, we may give up too soon. It’s crucial to keep going and try again, even if we encounter obstacles on our path.
