We have recently had a big jump in A.I., and I can think of many jobs that can be easily industrialized because they can be easily measured and consistent. This might be a big change for countless people because it will put people in a weird spot for a while where some of us won’t know what to do for a living. I believe it also presents an opportunity for heightened creativity.

💭When I read this quote, it reminded me of a co-worker. He would always say, “ My Bus is here “. The first time I heard him say this, I didn’t understand. He later explained to me, he meant it was time to go home and was not actually waiting for a bus to go home, I sense that this would be something he might say.

At scale, organizations pay less attention to soft skills when hiring because we’ve persuaded ourselves that vocational skills are impersonal and easier to measure. If it’s easier to test for, it seems more important when selecting our team.

💡The only addition I would make to this statement is that, if you find yourself in a hiring position, it would be beneficial to devise a method for assessing soft skills. The last thing you’d want is to end up micromanaging your employees every minute of the day.
