Fourth Wing By Rebecca Yarros

A dragon without its rider is a tragedy. A rider without their dragon is dead

Note

Fourth Wing” delves into the life of twenty-year-old Violet Sorrengail. Though she was meant for a life surrounded by the serenity of books and history, destiny has other plans for her. Rebecca Yaross has crafted a world brimming with dragons, and her take on bonding provides an innovative twist to dragon folklore. The characters in “Fourth Wing” are multifaceted, each possessing a depth that captivated me, and I’m sure will captivate any reader of this book. Whether it’s Violet’s indomitable spirit defying her physical limitations or Xaden Riorson’s fierce ambition, Yaross has done an outstanding job with the story. Upon diving into “Fourth Wing,” I was immediately reminded of classics like “Eragon,” “Hunger Games,” and “Divergent.” It captures the essence and intrigue of these staples while carving its own distinct path. It might be a bit too early to predict the direction Rebecca Yaross will take in her next book, but one thing is certain: she crafted a tale so engrossing that I finished it in just a day. The narrative flows effortlessly, making it both an easy and captivating read.

The minute you let emotion enter a fight, you’ve already lost.

💡Is it a skill or a natural talent? Anyone with experience in fields that demand immediate response, where there’s no room for hesitation, knows that there’s no time for emotions. One must remain focused and act swiftly.

if you won’t get your shit together and fight to live, then no. You’re not going to make it.

💭A simple but profound quote. the longer I thought about this quote

Hope is a fickle, dangerous thing. It steals your focus and aims it toward the possibilities instead of keeping it where it belongs—on the probabilities.”

💭 Hope can cause individuals to cling to faint chances, obscuring their view of the true nature of a situation. By focusing on what might be rather than what currently is, we can sometimes delay taking essential actions.

Quotes

Not her daughter. Punishing children for the sins of their parents is the Navarrian way, not the Tyrrish.

Fascinating. You look all frail and breakable, but you’re really a violent little thing, aren’t you?

You are the smartest of your year. The most cunning.” I gulp at the compliment, brushing it off. I was trained as a scribe, not a rider. “You defended the smallest with ferocity. And strength of courage is more important than physical strength. Since you apparently need to know before we land.”

Justice is not always merciful.

Lies are comforting. Truth is painful.
